Dear Craig Berman
I am a PROUD ECO WARRIOR!! Why?
Because I have installed my geyser timer and geyser blanket.
Well…. I have seen the difference. Since moving to Kuilsriver in 2010, my electricity bill has rocketed. I use to purchase between R1200 – R1500 per month for electricity (prepaid). I had Cape Town City Council come out and check my prepaid metre – this cost me a pretty penny.
Until I discovered on my Facebook Page – Saving Energy. I email my husband in Saudi Arabia and he said without hesitation – go for it! Well, since installing my geyser blanket and geyser timer at the end of May 2014…. I have seen the difference.
In May I purchased R800 electricity (as per Cape Town City Council) and continued to turn my geyser on and off every day. It became so annoying that I would often forget to turn the geyser either on or off and I would see my electricity disappearing.
On 27 May 2014, I had my geyser blanket and geyser timer installed at had 70.0 kWh left at 11:15am. Those 70 kWh lasted until 31 May 2014 (5.8 kWh).
I then purchased R850 electricity (596.50 kWh), punched this in. New reading 602.3 kWh at 19:25.
These kWh lasted until 30 June 2014 (6.6 kWh at 09:45). On 30 June I purchased R800 (561.4 kWh) and punched same in (new reading 568.0 kWh).
At 06:34 this morning (18 July 2014) I had 218.8 kWh.
I have taken the following into consideration….. I have the air conditioners (2) on most mornings and evenings for an hour or two. I cook most evenings (my stove has solid plates and uses more electricity).
I can truly say that since the installation of my geyser blanket and geyser timer I have saved at least 30%. From R1200 to R800…. That is a saving!! I will continue to monitor my readings.
PROUD ECO WARRIOR.
